Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.
